I really wanted an auto in a .40, something that could be hunted with. I have noticed there is a bit of reluctance by the 10mm people to give credance to the super 40. Not sure why that is. I have yet to shoot the super, waiting on a barrel for my 1911, but all the articles I have read only leave me to wanting the super 40. The 10mm was a close second or third though. The 41 mag looked interesting also, but the balistics of the super won the day for me.

I have some load info on the round,I'm going to write my own for the rest.
I ordered 1000 cases from Starline and the lady estimated March before they make the brass again, they need 25,000 on order(they had 6,000 currently).
For the time being I bought 2 boxes ofr Double Tap ammo for the brass, will probably get 1 or 2 more by January(depends what the order total at Starline is by then).Someone needs to order 15,000 pcs. soon.
I think for some reason the 10mm guys feel "threatened" or whatever (hurt ego maybe?)because they'er not the only powerful 10. Just dumb! Who cares if there is another 10, I wouldn't care if someone releases a bigger 10mm then even these two,it just doesn't matter ,another option.
My barrel from Storm Lake took almost two weeks longer than it should have because they made the wrong barrel. I called them to send it back, they wouldn't start on the right barrel until they got my barrel back ,then put it "on the list again. That is BAD business. When I informed them of their mistake ,they should have started on my new one imediately so when they recieved the wrong one back, the correct one could be sent out that day,not put at the end of the list again after they got mine back.

Storm Lake barrels were the lower price barrels when I started doin business with them a long time back...lookin at Their web site now They may be the highest priced...I haven't bought a barrel from anyone in three years or more so I can't say...First 40 Super barrels I bought from them , I had a HELLOFA TIME gettin them to understand the Chamber End or Barrel Hood if You prefer had to be 45 Deminsions (outside) with a started chamber (45) (short ) of 1/2 in depth....Guess what I'm tryin to get across for those of You that haven't worked with the 40Super is a 40 Super barrel needs to be a 45 barrel (hood width ) on the outside , 40 caliber bore...There may be 40 Super barrels out there of different configurations , alll I know is when We started HOTTRODDIN 1911s We sleeved 45 barrels to 40 , cut off rifle brass to make cases.....granted You can weld up the barrel hood on 40 cal barrels , and probably be safe , maybe, I doubt very much pressure gets outside the case

ya ,the 40 slide is narrower at the hood cutout than the 45. I am asuming they know that by now.Unfortunately I don't know of any other barrel maker that makes a 40 Super barrel. Maybe some smaller guy does somewhere, but none that I have found through extensive searching.Looks like I'll be waiting till Jan(I called today and they said end of next week before they even finish it,so basically they haven't even started it yet).If I could find another option, I'd tell em to shove-it.

I had Fusion make my barrel, it was an inch too long and wont drop into my springfield longslide. It will need some special attention to fit. Fusion said to open up the bushing but I don't believe that will fix it, only wreck the bushing. I will be sending the barrel back to get it cut down and either send the gun and have it fit or just have them make me one of their semi customs with that barrel. I also ordered 2000 thousand cases from starline 2 months ago. Bob at fusion is good to work with so far, always answers the phone or email promptly.

40Super Data

I am hoping you were able to locate some data, if so please contact me, I would very much appreciate getting some data.

I posted this in another section by mistake....

Anyone have any GOOD safe load info for 40 Super? Seems there is not much info at all out there for 40 super, and what I can find of the Triton info I am told is rather hoakie.

I still have the original load data that I worked up back in early 1998. However, the brass that I used was different than what is available today. The stuff I had, came from Starline in a straight walled configuration with one batch being head stamped 45 Colt and the other 45 Win Mag. Both used large primers and had to be run through the 40 Super size die before use.
E-mail me at Rumore@Tromix.com and I will forward you the data.

40 Super is My favorite round for the 19 11, all things considered....I won't print any loadin's I use but I'll tell Yaw'll this, 180gr. bullets can be loaded to 1800 fps, tryin' to get past 1800 fps, PRIMERS GO TO HELL FAST......I've had the primers lock the firein' pin out by oozein' around and into the firein'pin hole....the 40 Super can run with the 41mag

Hey brother, I know this post is super old. Was wondering if I I could get that load data somehow? I've been loading 40 Super for a while but not that hot lol. Didn't know the brass could take that much. U using Starline? Thank you!!

Tony hooked me up with his load data recently. Big shout it to him!
Underwood used to load a Lehigh 100? (Or maybe 115)grain load, does anyone have a starting point for these? I'm using Power Pistol, new Starline brass and small CCI rifle primers for the heavier bullets.
I don't want to risk a pressure spike with the smaller projectile...
