I currently reload Rainier 200gr hp and Western Nevada 200gr swc. Both are copper plated. Both are loaded over 5.4g W231. The Rainier hp is exceptionally accurate, but the swc is not so good. Any thoughts as to why? I shoot 5" gms and 1 comped officers, and it's true in both instances.
Also, the hp cycles flawlessly in the comped officers, but the swc has a Failure to Eject about every 3rd round. No problems with either loading in my 5" gms. Any ideas as to the why of this? Thanks

What's your COL on the SWC load? I shoot a lot of 200gr LSWC and the West Coast plated 200gr. bullet, with no problems. In fact, was shooting with a buddy recently, who had loaded the plated bullet with 5.4 gr. of W231, and we had very good accuracy, indeed (out of a Commander). In my experience with full size single-stack guns, a COL of 1.250" works very well with this particular bullet. HTH.

The lead bullets might be undersize and not building up enough pressure to fully cycle the action or be accurate. Or, the lead might be real soft giving you the same end result.

Good luck to you. Let me know how it goes.
