The Starline brass is not 9x23 brass, it's 9mm supercomp. Most of the dimensions are a little different, including the thickness of the web. I've noticed the Starline brass cracks long before the winchester brass. If you had your chamber reamed for the 9mm supercomp dimensions it would probably last a little longer. I now buy only winchester brass. It cost a little more, but I'm worth it. So are my guns.
I think the 38 Super Comp is just a rimless 38 super. and since all of the actual bodys are the same the 38 series will work in each other. The only difference is extractor tension.
The 9x23 is a different animal. the 9mm Super Comp was made a bit different as to not to infringe on the Ricco Patent. Since Starline is paying John a Royalty anyway, he has asked them to make it to a standard size but they refused to invest in new dies.
I wouldn't put the 9x23 in any chamber that wasn't made for it.
