I recently took possession of a Wilson Stainless Protector and I am now moving into the Browning Hi-Power realm too.

I am interested in a well made belt holster, mag pouch and belt.

I had considered going with Blade-Tech, as it is a quality holster that served my Glock 22 well. And a Dickies 1.5 inch belt holds it firm and supports the weight well. It would be less expensive that ordering a whole set up in leather, but I feel leather would be a nice addition to the firearms and want to give them a try.

Q1: Correct me if I am wrong, but Horsehide is thinner, yet stronger than cowhide and should last longer, right?

Q2: Is Wild Bill's Concealment worth looking into?

Q3: If not Wild Bill, who would you recommend and what specific holster?

I am looking for a belt side holster, strong side, scabbard with a thumb break (but I could be pursuaded to go without a thumb break). Both a single and double mag pouch will be bought and a matching belt will also be purchased.

Wait time is of little or no consideration and price doesn't really matter. I would hope to get a great set up that will last me years with regular maintenance for under 250.00.

I don't really care for exotic leathers unless they have proven more durable.

Any help and all opinions will be appreciated.

Had several WB's holsters that d/n feel were up to the quality the $ indicated.
Lou Alessi covered the Pro's & Con's of Horsehide vs. Cow here {?} not long ago.
In a nutshell, he d/n use Horse as the Cow that is available is {now} as good or better.
You can easily meet your mentioned $ with
his belt, mag holders & his Hardshell Talon+ IWB, CQC-S, etc. or one of Dane's designs built & crafted by Lou, ACP or GWH.
If you must have horse see Kramer or Rusty Sherrick @

Personally I'd stick with Lou's gear and it ain't because he moderates here. You're getting real Old World Craftmanship, hand-made, great designs & good looks for a very fair price.
There are a good number of excellent photos available via the search function here of Lou's work & especially of Dane's ACP & GWH's.

For now, if you want one of Lou's regular holsters you'll need to order through RF Hunting ( http://www.rfholsters.com ) or direct from Lou (see the Alessi Leather link for the email.) For one of the specially commissioned holsters like the Heinie/Alessi DOJ or Burns/Alessi GWH you'll need to order from their respective sites.

First off, you can't go wrong with Blade-Tech. Use a Wilderness 5-stitch, 1-3/4" instructor belt to cary it on.

As far as leather goes, you cannot go wrong with something from Alessi. Or even(gasp)a good carry rig from Galco.

Honestly, be wary of Wild Bill's. His satisfaction rate is too spotty for me. Also, I had a bad dealing with him about four years ago. Frankly they gave me nothing but trouble. Gave me a run-around and still did not deliver a very good product.

Ordered a holster and belt from Wild Bill for my Glock 27. Cannot say the belt or holster were anything to get excited about! The holster works but I feel better served right now with my cheap Uncle Mikes IWB. Neither the belt or holster I own is even on the same field as my Alessi/Burns GWH or Kramer. The belt and holster, well lets just say I think your money better spent with Alessi!

Lou, your very welcome! Yes, I will be @ the Rochester Show this time for sure. One of my friends in town just got a GWH for his Kimber Compact. Seeing it & how "tight" it carries think I'd better get one but for a BHP.
