I have the Jerry Kuhnhausen books. I am doing my first detail strip of a 1911 based gun. The gun I have to work with is a P16-40 Limtited. It has ambi safeties. The book doesn't tell how to remove them. I want to go step-by-step the first time...so, how do they come off?

Make sure your gun is unloaded.

Remove the right grip panel. Pull the right side safety out of the frame. It is held in by detent, and may be firm.

Cock the hammer. Move the left side safety approx. halfway between on and off, and wiggle it out of the frame.

Here's a good link for disassembly...

Thanks...I had already check out the site that you posted the link for (from one of your earlier post). Pretty handy.

The detent on the right side of the ambi was what I needed.

Thanks again. I am up and running once more.
