considering getting a baer SRP and wondered if i should add their 1 1/2" guarantee. not so sure that's a good idea for a carry gun. anybody shooting any of les's guns that have the 1 1/2" guarantee? any reliability issues? i've got a TRS and a premier II 3" guarantee and they're both very tight-- i couldn't imagine what the 1 1/2" versions are like!

any thoughts or opinions?

I have a premier II with 1.5".

It actually shoots <1" from a ransom rest.
This is after about 10,000 rounds and extreme
abuse.

Never, ever had any reliability problem with it at all, with any type of ammo.

I have an SRP. It is a great gun. After lots of rounds, everything is still very tight. I have to use an aluminum bushing wrench to take it apart. Plastic ones won't turn the bushing. It has always ran 100% and I would stake my life on it's function and accuracy without hessitating. I do have to be honest and say that I am really not sure it is any better than my Wilson CQB which cost less or a full custom built gun. The SRP comes in a wood presentation case that is not worth much in my opinion. I would rather have a couple extra mags than a case. When you get into the price range of the SRP, my opinion now is that I would rather go with a complete custom built gun by some of the smiths you see mentioned here on the forum. The SRP is a very nice gun, but I really enjoyed my recent experience working with Scott at SDM Fabricating to build my first custom 1911 using a Caspain frame and slide. It is really a great experience to hold and shoot a gun that was built from scratch just the way I want it. I have the same money(maybe even a little less) in my SDM custom gun than the cost of a new SRP. In the future, I'll go the custom route again for sure.

I have a premier II 1.5" and am developing a great relationship with it.
The only problem I had was when it came back from Les Baer. I sent it back for an extended slide release and extended mag release.
The gun would not function with the new slide release but functioned great with original slide release. The extended slide release did not work on any other Baers.

I like mine but would not get another Baer due to their customer service. It has been at least 4 weeks and Les Baer has not sent me another slide release for the faulty one that "had to be custom fit by Les"...lol and I sent the faulty one back. This is my second unpleasant experience with them and I have only had 2 experiences since purchase.

Hmmmmmmmm

Depending on the exact problem you had with your extended slide release, it may not have been Baer's fault. IMO, they are a bad idea. On recoil, they often lock the slide back as they flip up due to their greater inertia, and sometimes due to the shooter's fingers pushing them up. They also don't work with some holsters.
I tried to talk a friend out of putting one on his Springfield. When the predicted problems materialized, he switched back.

I am familar with the problem Avalanche had with his L.B. extended slide stop. It is safe to say that it wasn't the shooter.

The problem was a faulty product from Les...one that was sent to him to be fitted. It left his shop no working.

Too bad it's taken so long. Baer's guns are great looking and well built, but hearing about things like this is why I just spent the equivalent of one and one/half Premier II's for a full-house custom built by Mike O'Hara (Redmond, WA) on a SA milspec.

Of course seeing some of the broken SA stainless slides makes me a little nervous, even though the milspec is carbon steel. Hope SA built mine right!

I do not want to bash Les Baer. I am just conveying my experiences. The gun worked fine before I sent it to Baer for ext slide and ext mag release. When it returned (total of 50.00 in shipping and 4 weeks waiting) it did not work.
It works now but I am waiting over 4 weeks for a replacement ext slide release.

The response I get is...I will talk with Les or Les is working on your gun...lol...right.

I like mine and will keep it but it is doubtful I will purchase or recommend in the future.
