Anyone have experience with the Auto-Ordnance 10mm? I have some money down on a used one that looks to be in fine condition. The owner is asking 325.00 for it and it seems like a good deal. Just want to hear from others that may have experience with it.

Also: Can I convert it to 45acp without much trouble?

Thanks gang.

You won't be able to convert it to .45 ACP. I'd be kind of leery of getting an Auto-Ordinance because I've never even heard of them (for whatever that's worth).

The breach face should be smaller for the 10mm but you might be able to open it up. I like 10mm's just the way they are.

The Auto Ordance back 15 to 20 years or so were the cheep guns of there day but much better than the High Points being sold now. The good ones were outnumbered. Not sure weather the frame and slide were to government model blue print specifications. You did very well with the Siestma's (sp) so this will be a BIGGER challange! Mike

I'd recommend that you go get your money back  A-O, from the before Kahr Arms era, are a poor investment in any caliber. Sorry. Also, don't bother with the notion of a 10mm to .45 conversion. Save your pennies, and get a real gun. Sorry for the bad news. HTH.

Well he dropped the price to $225.00 so I couldn't say no.

Think I'll just leave it as a 10mm (always wanted one anyways) and I'll just do a few basic reliability mods (lower and flare etc...) Sure does have a nice feel to it. Thanks for the advise gang....you saved me a hundred bucks.

I'll post a few pics of the 10 as "filler" material during the December carry gun project, for anyone interested.

April 2002 project is going to be a full house 38super race gun, made from scratch using Caspian frame / slide combo. I sure hope I don't screw that one up  hahaha....but I figure by that time I'll be doing my 5th gun. (the 2 Sistemas are done, December is a pair of carry guns from 80% frame castings, a commander lenghth and a matching officer length combo)

I wouldn't worry about AO 10mm,you know from reading posts on this forum you hear good and bad about any make 1911A1.I had an AO 45acp a few years ago that was totally reliable and reasonably accurate, only sold because a friend wanted it more than me.Besides if it doesn't work to suit you we all know you can fix it. I have a 10 mm and I love it. It shoots better than my colt 380. The 380 recoil is very sharp but the 10mm recoil is smooth even tho the recoil is larger. The company used to sell conversion kits to convert to 40 or .45 don't know if they still do.

Welcome jrs674. And, congratulations are in order: You have, to the best of my knowledge, broken the all-time record for "resuscitating" the longest-dead discussion thread.

No worries though. Due to the fact that old discussions here never seem to disappear, or even move to an inaccessible archive, what you did happens pretty frequently.
