First of all let me thank you for showing interest in my work. I know this site has many premier pistolsmiths in attendance and would appreciate any of their opinions.
The gun itself is all STI and in 40 S&W. The mainspring plunger, strut, and firing pin are titanium. S/S grip and single thumb safety and blue slide stop. The rear sight is STI and the front is a Dawson fiber optic. I flat topped the slide but didn’t serrate it. I haven’t gotten that brave yet. Instead of cocking serrations, I prefer to checker the four corners. This one I did at 30 lpi. I also built a twin to this one and tried my hand at machine checkering. That one I did at 20 lpi. I think in the future I will do it on the machine.
This gun has an STI bull barrel, tungsten one piece guide rod.
Right now the trigger pull is set at 2 ¼ lbs. I may tweak it a bit one way or the other, but whoever wins it will be able to control it so I’m not overly worried about that. Last year the prize gun was won by Everette Brunell. He won the entire match using a stock STI auto. In 1999 I built a Para P-16 that was won by D R Middlebrooks of Surry, Va. With shooters like that at the controls, I think the guns are very safe. Not much more to tell other than the gun “runs”. No one would buy a custom built car that wouldn’t start and run and I sure wouldn’t let a gun go out to a customer that doesn’t go BANG when the trigger is pulled.
While I don’t usually build complete guns for customers, I build most of mine from the frame up. Most of my customers already have a weapon and just need a few inhancments to make it shoot better. I make my own compensators that work very well on open class pin and race guns.
