My used surplus 92 S has a tiny nubbin front sight.
Novak informs me that it is impossible to cut a dovetail for a real front sight because there is not enough meat on the front of the slide.
Not knowing anything about the topic of steel under stress, it looks to me like the top front of the slide has absolutely no stress on it! The hole where the barrel comes through never touches anything. The recoil spring stresses on the slide are way down low on the recoil spring guide hole.
Has anyone tried milling a slot for a front sight on a 92S?
