Gentlemen,
I am most interested regarding the attributes of using black parkerising on a stainless steel 1911. Does it add to lubricity, wear resistance, etc.? I would greatly appreciate your input. Also, who does it?

Parkerizing won't "take" on a stainless gun, Matt. You can do chrome sulphate though-- gives a very black, very dull finish. I have two personal carry guns done with this finish, and since the late '80's they've been holding up well. I haven't done it to a stainless gun in years though and my original source is gone. Some of the guys here on the forum gave me some new sources that I expect to try soon. Sounds like if anything they should be better than the old source.

Matt, Check out http://www.robarguns.com and look at finishes. They blacken stainless steel. Hope this helps. Sam
