I just ordered a Heinie Slant-pro to replace the Novak Low-Mount on my loaded Springfield. Does Springfield use a tapered dovetail? In other words, is there a specific direction I need to drift the Novak out towards and install the Heinie from? I have had problems drifting the Novak for windage adjustment in the past. Any suggestion other than get a bigger hammer? (Just kidding...kind of) Also, will the original front sight work with the Heinie? Thanks.

I definitely know what you mean about trying to adjust the sights on an SA. Mine [still] shoots to the left, after being worked on back at the factory.

I REMOVED the set screw and used a urethane mallet to try and tap the sight a tad to the right - it will not budge.

Time for the BGH............

Thanks, Shane. That was actually my guess in the first place. I suppose I read it somewhere before.

Can someone confirm this. I'm in a similar pickle wanting to install Heinies.
I'd also like to know the drift direction of the front sight and what it takes to pull the pin holding it in.

I think , on an SA the sights go on from the left side looking from the rear of the slide.

I believe I may have read this somewhere as well. Can't be sure.

The Novak's on my TRP seem to be drifted in from the left. I see indentations on this side from a punch as opposed to the other side that has none.

Thank you.
