Just an issue I thought this forum would be interested in:

One of our IDPA members has a Charles Daly 1911 that he shoots. He was shooting at a match about two months ago, and I asked me to shoot his gun. The thing seemed to be running fine (with ball ammo,) so I picked it up and immediately noticed that the front sight was bent to the right, at about a 30 degree angle!

I asked him if he had ever dropped it, and he said that it stays in the case until he shoots it and cleans it, and he hasn't dropped it. I told him to send the slide back to the factory and have them settle the problem.

He wrote me an E-mail tonight, saying that he received the slide back, with a note from KBI that said: "It shoots straight. What's the problem?"

He then asked me if Geneseo, IL, was where Springfield was located.:

I will investigate this some more to insure that I have the story straight, but I thought it was amusing.

OK - K.C. told me tonight that the factory DID NOT FIX THE SIGHT for him. The slide came back to him with the front sight still cock-eyed!

I am sorry, but this is absolutely unacceptable. Lousy quality contol in the Charles Daly company has been answered with lousy customer service. Obviously they do not want to be in business very long. It is also apparent that they underestimate the communications ability of the shooting public and the firearms industry.
