Colt 10mm (Not a Delta)

I saw an interesting 10mm today. It was unlike any other Colt 10mm I have ever seen, and I am wondering if it is something I should be considering...

It is a stainless series 80 pistol that says "Colt Custom Combat 10mm" on
the left side of the slide. There is nothing special about it except that the
serial number is 10MM-NNN.

Does anyone know anything about this pistol?

Thanks

Not really, there are alot of oddball variants of the Delta Elite out there. That one is new to me. :-?
Is it perhaps as Sean said, a Colt Custom Shop version of the
Delta Elite.....??? I've seen a few of these while shopping for
my Delta, but the prices seemed a little out of hand for a gun
that was going to be so extensively modified.
I've moved this to the Colt section to see if the Colt experts can shed some light on my original question...

:D

Hey, Mark:
Not sure, but very likely it's another of the "several" offerings offered by Colt for distribution through Lew Horton. I just recently picked up that "Combat Delta 10", which was made in similar vein. Many think these models were an effort by Colt to use up spare components, and, in actuality, they are pretty much standard units, other than their markings and, perhaps, color/material combinations. That's all I know. Anyone else?
1991A1 Delta

What about the version that is set up like a series 80 1991A1, with matte/parkerized blue with rollmark DELTA? Anyone know much about this gun and how much these sell for on the market today?
You mean this one?

This is the "Delta 10" model. Yet another of the limited production runs done for Lew Horton. Don't know recent value on this model.

Dave, All I see is a small white square with an "X" in it.
Paten,

That's the exact pistol. I guess I missed a few details, but that is indeed the one I saw. I've been told that he wants $650 for it. It has some minor wear, but there isn't anything wrong that can't be fixed.

Can you tell me any more about it?

All I know is what it says on this page. Underneath the link for the picture it says "There were 400 made by the Colt Custom Shop in 1988." It says Desert Dog owns this pistol but I think he sold it a couple of years ago.
Hey, guys:
Didn't that gun sell here about a year or so ago? Think it went for about $850-900 or so, didn't it? Where's DD?
Hey Folks! You will never guess how surprised I was when I checked the board and saw my old 10mm the 1991A1 Colt. Yes it used to be mine but I sold it for more money than I should have. I bought it from Lew Horton back when I had my FFL and was dealing quite heavily and it was an extremely limited run. It was a fine gun NIB when I sold it to a gentleman out of CO. It was a hard decision but at the time I needed the money more. I am awaiting a Target Witness in 10mm and would appreciate any suggestions for getting my 10mm Compact Witness running reliably for a carry piece. I also have a Colt Double Eagle in 10mm my favorite. The DW Razorback looks wonderful except I dont have the funds for it right now. Take care and God Bless...RK :D
Buy It!

that's a rare 10mm if you can get it for $650.00 then it's a good buy.

I don't buy guns to collect however. I buy them to shoot. Since it's already in 95% condition.

Just about any 10mm is rare.(Except a Glock 20) The Custom is probably the rarest of them all.
Even run of the mill Delta Elites are going for more than $600 now, so $650 for a Custom Combat is not a bad price.
Guys,
I have a Custom Shop Delta Elite in 10MM, bought NIB in the late 80's. Very nice, blue slide, chrome frame, fixed three dot sights, ambi thumb safety, extended grip safety, beveled mag well, checkered flat mainspring housing, and good looking wood grips with the delta emblem as in the photo in the prior post. All factory original except for a full length recoil spring guide. Less than 100 rounds through it. Is this a rare version? Somewhere I got the impression Colt made quite a few of these, like over 500. Anyone know how many were made and what it's worth now? Before you ask, NO, it's not for sale!
Sorry to bump an old thread, but I just bought one of these at a very competitive rate. Anyone have any more info? Mine has the Delta-style black wraparound grips.

edit: Looks JUST like the one in the photo Paten posted. S/N is '10mm-3xx'.
I have one of the stainless "Delta"/1991A1 10MMs, new in the box. Mine came with the standard 1991A1 rubber grip panels, not the Delta/Pachmyer (sp) grips. No Delta medallion - you could easily mistake it for a standard stainless .45ACP 1991 except for the large "Delta" on the left side of the slide.

Lew Horton had Colt build 200 blue, 200 stainless "Deltas". Lew does a lot of "specials. He also did the "El" series of Colt .38 Supers.

Right now I would take one of ANY Colt 10MM model. I can't understand the current revival in the .38 Super when the 10MM beats it in all catagories. Enjoy your 10MM!

Warmly, Col. Colt
