Years ago, Match barrels were tough to get, or impossible, so welding up was necessary.
Today, why risk it when Brownell's catalog is jammed with new barrels.
Welding still works, but the cost these days probably won't be very competitive, and almost certainly won't be as good as a new purpose-built barrel.
