Colt special combat government competition

Hello,

Does anyone have any experience with the Colt special combat government competition model? I saw an example of it on the Colt website, and it looks like it has many of the modifications I'd like in a range-shooting gun. I was thinking about a Kimber, but there were a few recent posts suggesting that Kimber may be having some problems (not shooting at point of aim). Also, with pistols of equal quality, I think I'd rather have a Colt than a Kimber.

Also, would it be hard to find?

Thanks.

This doesn`t answer your question, but let me suggest this......

I am very fond of the " Black Colts", however this is a fine Semi- Custom - Shop Version.

Bead Blasted SS, with a Slate Blue-Gray finish.

Polished Breach Face & Feed Ramp, Videki Match Trigger.

Hand work is evident on the slide rails, slide stop, and extractor. The Barrel-Bushing fit is tight, the slide is "firm" on the Frame without excessive tightness. Excellent out of the Box trigger pull.

The guy working on this Gun cared about what he did. Maybe I was just luckly.

You see them priced anywhere from $650- $750.

When Dane finishes my Black Colt " Retro Gun", this one will go to him....

And this as well Dane......

Hey Blackjack...Is that a belt buckle?

Tell me again about that pistol...What is it known as, and about what year?

Thanks...you have some great items there

...and yet you choose to torment me with a photo of that Royal Scots officers belt buckle. Surely you must know how badly this Scot wants one?? I think we both how rare of a thing it really is!! Aye laddie, yur killin me here...

DD
DD...must you be so dramatic?
The gentleman has already stated his intention...and now, off you go about the buckle...You could not possibly have seen me biting my knuckles to keep from screaming at visualizing his pic of "the buckle"...You notice he didn't even reply to my seemingly ignorant question...Now ...here you are telling the entire world...

aahhh well...

It's the best I've seen...(sniff)
SAY WHAT!

GGGGEEEEZZZEEEEE! I am over taken with emotion! I have several friends looking into a foundry where we can copy THE clasp in jewelers' bronze. (and an olive tree for Luigi) That way DD won't bust a vein being jealous and all three of us could wear one. I am overwhelmed by the offer though! Thank you.

We should just trade the recent connossieur stainless Colt for what I have here and some boot and then you wouldn't have to wait:)

With offers from a fellow Scotsman of such value and kindship, you might find my purse a little loose in your direction

Hi Gyp_C2, Thanks

The Gun is Stock # 01091Z, a year 2000 1991A1 Series 80, one of what seems like an endless number of small runs of different configurations coming out of the Colt Custom Shop.

I have seen them New with Bomars, 3 Dot White sights, standard sights, standard triggers,
what look like Wilsons, Videki`s, different Grip styles and any combination of the above and more.....

Too bad no one ( that I know of anyway ) is publishing a running list of all these small runs since I _think_ it started in the late 1980`s with the Combat Elites.

BTW, as a sad commentary, from a Non Expert Colt Fan.

I called Colt about a month ago, with the serial # of my used Combat Elite, which has the unusual ( too me ) prefix of A ahead of the CGxxxxx.

I wanted to know what sights that Model was issued with...no one had a clue..nor could they find any info on that...

The End of an era....

You're right...It'll never be the way it was...At least there are "bits and pieces" out there...It's great when someone that "cares" finds one...Nowdays, with the Internet, we can keep up with these little "nuggets" and who was lucky this time!

...BTW...nice thing you did for Dane...Very..

Take care...
