I just popped over to Caspian's web site and they had some beautiful though pricey Damascus slides. How durable is Damascus and is it a functional metal to use on a 1911 that will be shot a lot?

If any anyone has any pictures of one of these on their 1911 please post it.

Thanks,

Chris

I have a Colt Stainless steel Series 80 Commander with a Caspian Damascus Slide on it. It is one of my daily carry guns.

The material used in the slide is two different types of stainless alloys. With a chemical treatment done prior to machining to "change" the color of one type of alloy due to chemical reaction.

The gun has been carried for the majority of 2 years and I have had less of a rust problem with the slide than the frame!!

Truly worth the extra for a Full house custom, if for nothing else than you like the way it looks.

Hope what info I could give helps.

Take a look http://www.caspianarmsltd.8m.com
