Dan Wesson is very much alive, and is producing 44mag pistol packages. Not only are the packages availible in 44, but also in 357 mag and 445 super mag. Retail prices I have seen reach up to $1400-1500.
Although not a common item one see a lot today, the pistol packs are distributed thru Ellett Brothers, a wholesale supplier to FFL dealers.
To me this is too expensive for what you get. I'd rather have a nice 44 Smith with a 4"-6" barrel. But if you want to go this route, by all means go for it and enjouy the ride.
