Noticed that casings, even new ones, do not fit flush on the breech face of my 45 ACP. There's about a .005" gap. The extractor is hitting the 45 degree transition between the rim and the main body of the case preventing it from seating flush. You can see a nick on the case in the transition area after firing.

Is this something to worry about if the gun is running ok otherwise or should I start filing the extractor down so it doesn't contact the side of the case and the case is flush with the breech face?

If everything else is OK go ahead and trim the front of the extractor to clear the case. Maybe the extractor is just a bit too long. In any event, you want the case sitting against the breechface.
