I have been reading about Federal's new +P Expanding Full Metal Jacket ammo. I am thinking of buying a couple of boxes in 9mm and 45 ACP. Any one have experience with this stuff and how come I can't find it on Federals web site? Thanks, Sam

Please scroll down this topic and read the thread EFMJ.

Federal has catloged the EFMJ officially as LEO ammo and are selling it through the LEO distibutors at this time.

David, Thanks for the info. Does Federal have a web site for LEO ammo like Remington and Winchester? Sam

they will eventually produce a line of personal defense loads with this bullet. they sent me some pre-production samples but have sworn me to secrecy. They are currently busy on an le project and will return to this product line later this year.

I found an online source and ordered 250 rounds of 200gr EFMJ. There was no mention of it being LEO and the email I just recieved from Federal said to call their customer service number if I couldn't find the ammo in my area. Here is that number.

I checked with several distributors and they have confirmed that EFMJ is available for general use.

It is currently a non-cataloged item like the 45 acp .185gr+P loading but can be ordered through any Federal distributor.

Some Federal EFMJ info for ya; nobody swore me to secrecy (telephone, telegraph, telemike?) If it's a secret, gotta tell me!

This'll probably be the last time anybody tells me anything...

From my G23 the 165/40 did 970 fps.
From my G19 the 124/9 +P did 1065, from a G17/BHP/M92 about 1105. Both vey mild, no flash, very accurate.

Current issue of CH shows over 1150 fps from G19 for the 9mm, way more than I got.

Heard of a 124/9 fired into a deer from a G19 at 15 ft: about 14/.56x.59 (along neck into shoulder/chest, no bones hit). Looks good to me.

I've heard there may be a 357SIG at 135/1250.

Expansion looks great, penetration is not up to FBI standards. Avg exp/pen for the 124/9 +P in the FBI test series is almost the same as the 115/9 Silvertip: about 10-11/.51-.54, 35-50% at/over 12.

I only purchased two boxes of .40 S&W for testing and gave them away ( I do not use a .40).
But these are the numbers for the 9mm and .45acp:

9mm- P9CSP1, 124gr +P
.45acp- P45CSP1, 200gr +P
