I posted this question on rec.guns. Just thought I would put it here too to get the most responses. What the hell did anyone do for info before the internet?
Anyway, it has been a pipe dream of mine to run a gun shop. Any of y'all here who are FFL's: Am I nuts? Any specific advice, info resources, books, etc.?

MuzzleBlast;
If you want an FFL for convenience,don't....the paper work sucks.
If you want to make money,buy a good lawnmower and cut grass...you'll make more.
If you need a hobby get one ...selling guns ain't a hobby.

If you just want to save money...you won't.Go to a big gun show in a major metropolitan area a couple of times a year and shoot your cash wad.

HOWEVER:

If you want lots of shooting buddies to help burn up that ammo you saved $10 on.....get an FFL.
If you want to open your home to the ATF 24/7....get an FFL
And for real fun send your FFL back to the rogue government agency that issued it to you and you can be "Put in delay" by the NICS everytime you buy a gun from then on.

In my not so humble but clearly stated opinion.NO...HELL NO
