Just received this from the CSSA (Colorado State Shooting Association). Haven't verified it's authenticity, but if it's true, it is indeed good news:

Sorry folks, should have checked this out before posting it.

Checked with S&W corporate headquarters - the customer service rep said no, to his knowledge nobody had bought the company, although he said he wished it was true. Said he liked the rumor so much he'd like to
pass it along himself.......

Sorry for the false hope, Tim

Don't write off rumors yet. A lot of corporations don't let employees know of deals and actually keep them in the dark on purpose so they can anounce when and where is good for them and, if applicaple, their stock price. I know, I worked for a public owned company and our employees where only told minutes before public announcements to avoid "insider" trading and information. Not sure if applicable here but a reality in big corps.

I'm hoping for the best too. This is probably only a rumor. However, I wouldn't discount it on the word of a customer service rep who works for the company. I couldn't get any of the S&W customer service reps to tell me if certain models where on the CA approved list. They just didn't know -- and that should've been company knowledge!
