I just started my first build project on a springfield mil spec 38 super. I started polishing the slide raceways, and noticed a definate step up on the bottom race surface. I pulled out my caliper and noticed and difference of .020 at that spot. I had already started polishing etc. Does anyone have any ideas. An do you think springfield will fix it after I have started some polishing etc. on the slide.

Thanks

rkp,
Due to the very new strict liability laws in the US,actually so new that no one knows what they are.

It would only seem apropriate for Springfield to send you an empty box and expect you to purchase an entirely new pistol.

This will be after thier customer service reps examine your slide for cracks with their optical magnaflux eyesight.......

Seriously, I would tend to belive you should send it in for warranty work.
