This place is a good find for me! I've picked all the modifications I want on my MKIII and even picked the smith, Mr. Wickman. Just two things, I can't make up my mind on the sights and the finish. I've narrowed it to Novak or Heinie and I'll probably get nightsights. Any imput would help and the reasons for your picks would be appreciated. As for the finish, I own a HK P7M13 Squeeze cocker with Black T, but was thinking about a two tone look, say hard chrome or maybe Rogaurd. Any opinions?

Thanks Guys,
Chuck

Im not 100% sure if it will work, but i bet Kurt could use the Heinie Slant Pros that are made for the Novak cut. This would give you 3 sight options- Novaks, Hienie Slant Pros, or the MMC adjustable.

Im having a 1911 built, and im using the Novak cut but the Hienie Slant Pro (giving me the 3 above mentioned options).

Remember, NOT ALL SLANT PROS are for the Novak cut, so be carefull and make clear your requests to any smith that you want to do this etc...

The Novak's look as if they were made expressly for the Hipower, IMO. Hienie's may be great sights for the 1911 but they ruin the asthetics of the Hipower, agin, IMO. FWIW, Are you aware that Novak's {larger} MK II sights can be put on the MK III's? Believe there are Novak's that fit the existing BHP dovetail and then their Lomounts that require milling of the slide. If you get Novak's you can have 3-Dot, Bar-Dot or single front-Dot nite sights. http://www.novaksights.com

I had Novak's Bar-Dot night sights put on my Mk II. I like the sight picture and the looks of them. I did not want the rear sight to project upward as the Heinie's do. The Heinie's give a great sight picture and they make it easier to rack the slide one handed. I know this and still opted for the Novak sights.

Hoser, if my memory serves.......When Novak's did my FN I asked about this and was told that their 1911 sights worked OK on the .40 due to the "bigger" slide but they did not rec. them for the 9mm HP's. Novak's has been very good about discussing same in my experience via phone. http://www.novaksights.com Also Don Williams of The Action Works does use the larger Novak sights on request. http://www.theactionworks.com

Either sight is good. Save yourself some change and possible night time headaches and only install a night front sight. Remeber, the first three rules of aiming a pistol in combat are: Front Sight, Front Sight, Front Sight.
As for finishes. I havn't heard of anything out there more durable than Roguard, except Robar's MP3(Or something like that) finish. If someone out there does know of anything, let ME know.

I guess I'm the dissenting opinion here, but I much prefer the sight picture of the Heinie rear sight. While I agree that Novaks look great from the side and really blend to the "lines" of a Hi Power, I just prefer the Heinie sight picture so much more.

Take a close look at the sight picture offered by each and choose the one that will help you shoot to your potential. If you do it this way, you won't go wrong.
