I just checked the IDPA rule book and it doesn't appear that having a beavertail welded on to a Browning HP would be legal in ESP, as it is not on the inclusive list of allowable modifications. Is this correct, and if so, why? Is this fundamentaly any different than a 1911 with a beavertail that is allowed?

Ricky T,

When I stopped shooting my Kimber in competition and got a hi-cap comp gun, I thought that I had gone over to the dark side then. Wouldn't this be Seeing the light?

Work is going to be done by Cylinder & Slide. Check out the picture that I posted in the "Nice Custom Hi-Powers" thread in the Hi-Power forum. A description is on the C&S web site in the "News Articles and Color Photos" section.

Base gun is one of the "Israeli" Hi-Powers that AIM had for sale. Serial number search showed it was made in 1994. Belgian gun, not assembled in Portugal. Finish is a little beat up, but when disassembled, it appears to hardly have been shot. Gun plus six FN factory hi-caps set me back $345. I would have bought more, but the AIM guns were a hit and miss proposition. Some guys I knew got absolute dogs. I was lucky.

With the trigger reset shortened and a decent trigger pull, it should be just the thing. Besides, I keep telling my wife that it's for her! On the C&S web site, it is referred to as the "Lady's Hi-Power."
