If it does not have "II" after the model name on the slide then it should not have the II series firing pin safety. Kimber was producing 40 S&W pistols as part of their line well before the II series, just not in near the same numbers as .45s.
Lots of pre-II Kimbers still out there. Just picked up another blue Classic Custom myself as a future project gun. I imagine that Kimber will keep producing pre-II guns until their parts inventory of the older parts is depleted, which I expect is soon. If you want a Kimber without the II-series lock work, get one now before they are gone.
