From a "newbie" to the forum . . . .

I just picked up a new KPE II yesterday and although I won't be able to shoot it until the weekend, I wanted to get some info on the recoil system.

What weight of spring is in the KPE II from the factory?

What is the next most recomended (i.e. heavier) spring. I will normaly shoot 205 gr LSWC with a lite to average (in the reloading manual) powder charge & carry Rem Golden Saber.

I have used shok buffs on my gov't models, but will a shok buff function OK with the 4" barrel (even with a heaver spring)?

Also, on the face of the alum trigger, there is a small allen / hex screw, is this to set the "weight" of the trigger, or to adjust trigger over travel or what?

Thanx for all the help!

As far as trigger question goes , the allen head screw is for over travel adjustment. Which on the Custom Shop Kimbers I've shot,is adjusted pretty good from the factory.

Thanks Bonehead69, I thought that it was for over travel, but was not sure

BTW, Can anyone recommend a good manual / book for the Kimber, etc. 1911 style 45? I am looking for something with exploded views, and perhaps somewhat detailed info on triggers, slides, etc. (Polishing & adjusting, etc.)

I really don't plan on taking my new pistol apart past a detailed strip & clean, but I would like to know ALL about it & it's functions.

My forte has always been the Rem 700 action rifle & it's been a LONG time since I have "messed around" with a 1911!

Thanx,
Aggie
