How about we(the non holster makers)bat around some ideas and try to design a new holster and then we can have are resident experts tell us what they think.

Let keep it simple and design it for a full size 1911.
What do you guys think?

I want one to carry on the chest...no clue as to why.

Lugi, do you make any holsters of the '1915' style shown in Dillon's?? If so, I want one...for some reason, but to fit a modern 1911 with Heinie sights. Please?

I have designed a holster, rather a holster connection. It is an IWB which allows for the shirt to be completely tucked away. I now have been waiting for a friend to sketch it out for me for submission to a manufacturer. He's been ill for a while, so there's been somewhat of a delay.

Okay, here's one. . .

How about that PDQ jobber, minus a thumb break (it has one right?). . . but as an SOB?

Or an ankle holster for the G34! Yeah I know I got big legs!

Seriously though, the only improvements I'd like to see is the Bruce Nelson (tunnel/loop) with a slightly higher ride and an extreme front cut (way down past the ejection port) away. Sorta like that Don Hume 726, but in a tunnel/loop design, higher ride and no thumb snap.

I guess some sort of tension screw would need to be applied or something to secure the pistol in the holster.

Whacha think?

I always liked the 1970's era Tanker holsters for the 1911. They were chest holsters. Maybe we could make a PDQ tanker rig?
Keep the ideas coming. Maybe we can design a couple of holsters.

Tom Campbell used a chest holster in the early days of IPSC. Such a rig might have some merit for a driver who could go openly armed.

As to holster ideas; How about an FBI-canted "between the belt and pants" belt slide, similar to Sparks' Mirage, but made of kydex. Rather than slots or a tunnel, its attachment would be a small paddle on the trouser waistband side, along with a integral "lip" that would hook over the belt on the outboard side.

This design would permit the holster to be attached and removed from the belt easily and the kydex construction would prevent the holster from collapsing when the pistol is withdrawn.

Interesting idea Rosco. It makes me think of Scott Key's Belster design.

I always wondered if someone couldn't maybe improve on that design, by starting with a little higher quality belt, then having a better reinforced mouth and a possibly a slot on the offside for a mag. Anyone ever try this Beltster design?

I would like to see a dual purpose holster that can be used IWB
with may be talon clips or removable snaps and a tunnel and a slot for OWB as in the Bruce Nelson design, it will have to be thin leather and not reinforced to account for the additional bulk or or it maybe easier to add two slots and use it as a belt slide also. Heck while I am dreaming It could also be used as a tuckable and of course it will have to be horsehide this would take some serious thinking, but is it possible.
How about it Lou?

It would be nice to have a shoulder rig with an off-side mag pouch that carries four single-stack magazines rather than two. This might be out there already, but I haven't seen it. Picture the jackass rig with two offside mag carriers back-to-back. It would only work with single-stack mags, and even then it would be getting pretty thick.

Speaking of mag pouches, would it be possible to make a concealable quad mag pouch in 2x2 format (one stacked behind the other)? I've seen Bianchi and Uncle Mike's products, but these are pretty big and not very concealable, nor are they built to use 1.5" belts. I'm wondering what some of you fine holster makers could do with this idea? The idea of having 4 spare .45acp mags on tap in a concealable and comfortable format all in one pouch doesn't sound all that bad to me. Make that 8 mags if you're big enough to carry 2 pouches =)

Is this even possible? Comments? Suggestions?

Hey Desert Dog,,If you know Scott Key, better tell him that there is a patent on that belt with the holster built into it..
If the inventor finds out about the infringement, he'll own Scott's house!! The patent might be expired, but I'm not to sure.
