Since most of us like to look at beautiful 1911s, I thought the group might enjoy seeing these photos from the web site of Heinie Specialty Products. One pistol is a 9mm and the other is chambered for 9x23.

You guys are too easy on the Maestro  I think the choice in grips in this case could have been better  Real Ivory would look good on these obviously incredible blued guns. Send that 9x23 over Dick and I'll fit a pair for you! Not real sure about the 9mm either..bet Sara is pissed she got a toy gun!

Dick told me he actually shot those groups but I am not sure he can see 20 yards
 . Maybe Luigi was spotting for him!

I think I see some powder burns on those targets too

Just glad Maestro Heinie is getting in some good practice building his own guns before he finishes up my new one

Guys,

I had a chance to handle both to these guns, along with several others, at the SHOT Show in the Big Easy. It was all I could do not to drool on them. The man does do some great work!!!!! Look real close and you may see my paw prints on them.

I've been getting to occasionally shoot a pistol that Richard Heinie just built for my friend and mentor Rick Miller. It's a "pre-series 80" blued Combat Commander. Rick is a "less is more" kind of guy and the pistol reflects that. It has straight-eight SlantPros topside and "scallops" fore and aft on the frame. A beavertail is beautifully fitted, the mag well beveled and the piece's sharp edges are tastefully broken. It is a classic.

Rick will be writing up the pistol in his monthly COMBAT HANDGUNS column. Also included will be my "XS" Combat Commander with the SlantPro's and scallops. This should serve to show readers how one can comission a pistol to be built by Heinie (which takes some time) or how one can choose to add some Heinie touches (SlantPro sights and scalloping) within a very rapid turnaround time (about 2 weeks).

The two Pistols have McCormick thin grips fit
to them after installing my XX Mag Well, which by the way attaches with screws, no welding or silver soldering.
Lou you couldn't remember long enough to punch all those holes. Have any trouble finding your Easter Basket?
Dick Metcalf is writing an article for Shooting Times on a LW Commander 45 I built for him that has an equally nice group, shot
with Federal Hydra Shoks.
I wiped all of Rob's Paw Prints off when I got them home.

Oops! Richard, my bad. I must have been thinking of a Brown Maxi-Well.

On yours, is the frame cut, or is it basically a drop in part like the Wilson?

I have always liked the welded on version, but is there any drawback to that type?

Thanks!
