I want to build my ultimate 5" 1911 in 9x23. I've been looking and talking to Nowlin,Baer,Wilson,Caspian and Rock River. What I am looking for is a Forged Chrome-moly frame with a 9mm/38super Ramp. The only company I could find that even cut a 9mm ramp was in a cast gun. I have nothing against cast guns but I want a Forged frame. I talked to John Ricco and his guns are all built on 45 frames by George at EGW. He even had a Titanium Commander made as a carry piece...Sweet.
All of my 9x23's have been built on 9mm/38 super Colts except for the factory SA with the supported ramp and the Commanding Officer with the cast Caspian frame.
Do I build useing the 45 ramp(all I use is Winchester brass) or do I have the 45 frame sent to EGW and have the ramp welded up and recut to spec? I dont want to put an insert in.
Need help deciding.
