After waiting the required CA 10 days to pick up my new Springfield I got to shoot it. The SA 1911 feels good and shoots right on the point of aim. I used Wilson 8 round magazines loaded with Winchester 230gr FMJ for this test. Three or more guys at the range each shot a magazine full and were pleased. One shooter put the rounds all just about in the same hole at 40 feet. A shooter used his 185gr loads to test it and all were handled well. It was a limited shooting test, about 100 rounds or so but enough to get the feel of the gun. If your looking for a reasonable cost gun the Springfield mentioned here will serve you well. I will go into shooting swc in the future and give you feedback. Good safe shooting all!

Does anyone know if these new MilSpecs are better quality than the older ones?

Also being in CA, is there any legal ramifications for replacing the locking mainspring and replacing it (I know WE don't see the problem, but anyone with legal knowledge have any feedback)?

Mines about a year old and I love it. You might want to up the recoil spring to 18.5# and throw a shok buf on it. Wilsoncombat has these together in a set. I found that the factory 16# spring wasn't really that heavy. Runs perfect with the new set up.

Best, -Coop
