In Wilson's catalog, there are both 7 and 8 round officer's mags. Do both of these fit flush? Is one preferred over the other? How about the black finish, and the metal base pads?

The 8-round mag protrudes a bit from the pistol's butt. It has a welded-on stop to avoid "overseating" when loading from slide-lock. The 7-round mag is essentially flush fitting (although it does have a "slam pad" base.
