Has anyone ever had a gun built or customized by Oglesby & Oglesby Gunmakers?

This is the same outfit run by the famous exhibition shooting William (Bill) Oglesby.

Yes, Badlands Bill the trick shooter... third generation gunsmith on the northside of Springfield IL. There are normally about 4 guys in the shop including Bill. He did some 1911 work for me 3 years ago. Single actions are their pride and joy. They also have thier own 1911's . I'd go back in a heart beat. The prices are fair. The work is very much above average. Alot of what is done are works of art. You can not find the seam on my two piece guid rod. My very basic 1911 came back looking better than many cover guns (Bill said that If I showed pictures on the net I was banned from the shop because he has enough backlog as it is). Depending on what you want done the lead times can be very good too.

If you can, you should make an appointment and drive to the shop. I know Bill has had some shoulder problems, so make an appointment. You WILL be pleased.

Bill is not a trick shooter. He is an exhibition shooter and one if not the best pistol smiths in the country. I have been to three of his shooting schools and I have 5 of his single action rugers. He has also built several 1892's for me and one Browning double barrel. I have seen him do things that I thought could not be done. Bill holds the record for shooting 5 plates at 15 yards in .82 seconds. That is not a misprint. I have also seen him shoot three shots and you won't hear but one bang. That is done with bullets, not shot or blanks at three balloons. I have also seen him shoot 5 shots from a single action ruger in .52 seconds. You can't count the shots but you will find 5 dings on the plate. Syd Horn "Slugs" and proud of my teacher.
