I've been looking around at options for faster sight acquisition. D.R. Middlebrooks has ProSights out there with a 'V' blade rear and a fiber optic front and there are also ghost rings out there w/fiber optics and tritium fronts. Has/does anyone use any of these and what are your opinions/experience?
There is...I 've seen one of the 10mm guys pistols that had a set and spoke highly of them...Can't remember off the top of my head...lemme' check my messages...

here's the front...I'llhave to check for a pic of the rear. It's jm10mm I think...
Being unhampered by knowledge, I feel that I have adequate license to ask stupid questions: What is the diameter of a Tritium capsule and could one be imbedded in the front(or rear) surface of a fiber-optic rod? I assume that Tritium is at most an Alpha emitter and the plastic rod would provide enough shielding. You would end up with a fiber-optic night-sight.. (Isn't it amazing what you can come up with when you are ignorant?) This must have been tried before or there are several reasons why it won't work- either that or I'm on to something. How about some feedback?
I have had a set of Pro-Sights on a Bacus Custom 5" gun for about 8 months. My 50 year old eyes have adapted well to this sight and I find it faster than any other sighting system I have tried to date. Aesthetically, I prefer Slant Pros but the Pro-Sights are faster for me.
I've been thinkin' about it ever since I tried my fibre-optics the first time...If you put it on the front sight farthest from you, I bet it would work fine...I'd like it to be inserted from the inside(shooter side) and be deeper than the fibre...I think they'd both work then...They might both be a little dull at max dark and max light, but they would be perfect at twilight ...and...no one could see it from the front either
Thats kinda' what I was thinkin'. I've shot with tritium sights w/white outline around inserts and in broad daylight they look just like standard 3-dot spots of paint. This setup might be a good compromise between 'Day' and 'Night' sights. I'm gonna try to get ahold of a couple guys and see if they've either tried it already or if they will. I found a site that advertises 2 sizes of FO for sights; .040 and .060. The smaller diameter of FO might be better, so that it would obscure less of the target at longer ranges. Did I hear that you got some FO material from Brazos Custom? Do you know what the OD of that rod is? I think that I'll give them a call tomorrow. Let me know what (else) I'm missing.
I think Arotek makes a tritium/fiber optic combination front sight for Glocks....I don't personally know anything about them, but it seems like it can be done.

Yes it was the 10mm guy. I love the ProSights. D.R. also makes a Tritium front that is interchangable. However I could not get used to the "V" rear sight so I made a Notch rear sight only to find out that D.R. also, after hearing the demand, also puts notch sights on his guns. He has a web site. I Think its http://www.tacticalshooting.com
