I have a great stainless PPK/S that has very sharp edges on the backstrap. I'm considering a DIY job of smoothing them out. What kind of tool should I use? I'm not worried about resale value, this one is a keeper but I want the end result to still look good.

A good method is to use metal-type abrasive cloth wrapped around a file, or a ceramic stone.

If you go with a file, be sure it's a very fine cut, and polish with the paper-wrapped file to remove the file marks.

You can blend the finish back in with a synthetic blending pad, usually found in the sand paper department. I use the pad that's equivalent to #0000 steel wool.

sharp edges

I always found the best way to do this was to hold the receiver in a padded vise backstrap up ans with a 1/4 wide smooth flat file draw file the edges. This method does the best job and eliminates the file marks completely. When finished slightly shoe shine eith 400 grit strips 1/2 in wide and keep the strip moving
