Among the pistolsmiths here, what is your recommendation for use with .45 IDPA loads in the 165-170 PF range? Previously, I've always used 18.5# recoil springs for everything but the lightest steel plate loads, but lately I've been using the 16# spring that came stock with my Kimber Classic and I have come to like the slightly crisper cycling of the lighter spring. Over time, will the use of the 18.5# extend the life of the gun? BTW, I always use a Shok Buff or similar product.
