I read below about changing the recoil spring every 2-5000 rds. I do this, usually between 2000 and 3000 rds. I always use the standard 16.5# spring. Why do others use heavier than standard? I shoot my own reloads of 230 gr cast bullet at 830 fps. Should I be using a heavier spring?
Thanks

If your cast bullet is round nose, you can certainly use the 16 pound spring. With cast h&G 68's of 208 grains, I find that an 18-1/2# spring works better. It takes just a bit more urging to get the flat point to climb the ramp when it is coated with carbon from a dirty burning powder.
