I have a low serial numbered Wilson Combat 1996A2 (actually, FedEx has it in Tulsa, OK, right now...). The SN is WC00012XX. The SN's started at 1000, though I don't know if the first was 1000 or 1001.

Do most manufacturers start their SN's at 1000, 100, or something other than 0000? And why?

My only guess would be that it makes it easier to keep track of the zeros.

And no, I don't have too much time on my hands. Just something I was thinking about loading the dishwasher last night (with a 14 month old kid and busy life, that's my version of downtime:)).
