I have a XS lightweight Commander, with the odd shaped speedbump type grip safety. The other day I detail stripped it and sent the small spring that sits between the right side of the grip safety and the frame flying. It's gone...no can find.
Embarassing, but geez, it's the only 1911 I have with this particular spring, and I forgot it was there when I pulled the grip safety off the frame. The spring itself was not very substantial, and reassembly without it has not adversely affected function. Any problems just leaving it out? What is its purpose? Any insight would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Tim
