I have one of each. The Kimber is finished inside and outside much better than the Springfield. Kimber Gold Match has an ambi safety while Springfield only has left side. Springfield has a checkered front strap and Kimber is I think a type of bead blast finish. Both pistols I have are very accurate and are capable of much more than I am. I have probably 2,500 - 3,000 rounds through the Springfield and 2,000 through the Kimber.
I must say both pistols have functioned well. I give the lead to Kimber though - I think dollar for dollar the Kimber is a better pistol. It has not given me any problem more than a broken thumb safety that I think was cracked in shipping. Kimber fixed it in one day - paid freight both ways.
See my post on wear on the Springfield slide - the pistol is now back at Springfield.
