Recently both STI and Springfield have started offering this to IDPA shooters. Even though I am no longer eligible, I think it is fine and allowed under IDPA rules.

Could this be the start of the “IPSC-ization” of IDPA?

Or, is it those Team Triton jackets and the other sponsored shooters bowling outfits that will ruin IDPA?

As some of you know, I am a taxpayer supported shooter. And I have also won goodies from STI from their IPSC contingency program. I can’t see where in the IDPA rulebook that a manufacturer can’t reward a good shooter.

Will someone from the grassroots movement trying to prevent STI and Springfield from doing this please chime in? And those of you who have opinions about this, please tell me why you feel like you do. I just don’t get it.

I do not have a problem with it. In fact I wish more manufactures would do the same. Obviously, no one else on this board thinks it is a bad idea either.

It caused quite a lively debate on the 1911Forum. The biggest concern appeared to be that someone would turn to the dark side to win.
