I've found I like linseed oil, and by being sloppy with it, I discovered it's a pretty good metal protector, too. This let me to experiment with linseed oil diluted with mineral spririts, with some black laquer mixed in, applied to fresh Parkerizing. It gives it a little darker shade, and the Parko really drinks it up. Takes forever to get hard, but gives a very weather-resistant parko job.
