Hi, I'm new to the board and have been shopping around for a new handgun. I really like the USP's but have yet to find a range with a rental in the Variant 5 or 7 DAO configuration. Anyone here have experience with these models? Don't mean to be blasphemous to the USP owners, I just prefer the long trigger pull of the DA's...

Most USPs are Variant 1. I doubt that you will find a V5 or V7 to rent. If you can find a V1, fire it double-action. If you like it, a V1 can be converted to a V5 or V7.

Look at the LEM if you would consider a 40 compact. It is far superior to the normal DAO.
I carry one regularly and I am selling my Variant 1 because I think the LEM is so superior.

The LEM is a very good trigger and can be retrofitted by an HK armorer to your USPc.
If you so choose to go DAO, then you will need to special order the gun new or have an HK armorer order and install the parts for you.
FWIW, the DAO trigger on the USP is fairly heavy by most standards and will give you a full 12-14lb trigger pull.

It is actually the owners manual for the revised USP40c with LEM DAO modification.
HK also has a a new armorers manual for the LEM equipped pistols.
If anyone has it I would be glad to compensate you for your time/costs if you want to email for a copy.
