I guess now I have to ship it to Dane for some frame and dust cover recontouring, frontstrap serrations and a general de-horn.

-McCormick hammer and sear
-Videki solid aluminum trigger
-Serrated flat mainspring housing to replace Springfield's turn-key safety system
-Heinie Slat Pros
-Colt recoil system replacing the full-length guide rod
-Wolfe springs throughout
-Ivory grips

Once I get a few more projects off the books, I'll have to drive up and drop this on Dane's doorstep.

Why did you choose the CMC MIM parts to replace the Springfield MIM parts? Did they provide a better trigger pull?

I encourage you to do the dehorn yourself, it's not hard. Some files and sandpaper will do the trick. Dehorning is rather subjective, and it's a good place for you to control what and how you want the gun recontoured.

I went with the CMC parts for two reasons:

1. The original trigger pull was 8 pounds plus.

2. The original parts were ugly. (Subjective, I realize)

The CMC parts resulted in a crisp, 4 pound trigger pull.

I don't want to do any carving on the gun that would require refinishing just yet. I don't like the frontstrap contour of the Springfield, so I will have that Colt-ized when I have the high-grip mod done.

Besides, like Harry said, "A man's got to know his limitations..."
