I have also posted this question else where on this forum.But then I realized this would be the correct place to post it.What brand ammo does the U.S. military use.Thanks in advance.

It depends on a lot of things, not the least of which is the mission. For instance, when not actually fighting in a declared war (and there has not been one of those in a while), they have sometimes used Hydra-shoks in the .45 and sometimes Winchester 9mm OSM (147gr. subsonic JHP)and .300 Win. Mag. with 190 gr. match BTHP.

Might have to be more specific.

The U.S. military has purchased ammo from amny different contractors over the years.

Olin/Winchester has always been a prime contractor for pistol, rifle, and shotgun ammunition.

IMI currently makes .45 ball for the U.S. military as well.
