....and you have no alternatives, what are you usually stuck with to eat? Since Im a cook, I usually have lots (now), but I still remember times when I hardly had money to get food and was left with pickles, ramen noodles and good ole chef in a can.

I remember when all I had to eat was rice and beans. There's one good thing about once being poor, your not scare to death of becoming poor once again. Upon becoming poor the rich tend to hang themselves from the nearest tree.

...It was always somethin' I hated...That's why it was left...Pieces of things....Like Taco makins' with no cheese!
Or Hamburger buns and no beef! Stir-fry veggies with no meat!...or fish!
Flour, corn meal, salt, no milk...

etc...;(

Ramen noodles, ketchup and a dash of tabasco

For those weeks with an extra dollar or two left over, the addition of tuna fish to the above was a real treat

The good ole days......

Newton,

Would you care to enlightening your neighbors to the South, on what exactly K.D. is? Could this be Canada's answer to the Australia's delicious

If the pantry and fridge was bare and I was genuinely hungry I have a solution or two.

I have a river 150 yrds from my computer which has fresh trout. Behind my house is a decent elk herd with some whitetails, and an occasional black bear. The neighbors have some useless dogs which would be easy for the picking, and my lawn usually is richly blessed with lots of dandilions which have nutritional value, and are like spinach. Insects could also be eaten with total satisfaction.

It may turn some off but there is little reason for starving in temperate climate like I live in. Food is everywhere. Just use your intelligence and you will survive.
