I am just wondering if anyone has a 1911 project(s) on the bench (besides Hilton). Anyone care to share some photos of your work in progress? If you don't have a project going now, do you have one you are considering? How about a benchcam link...

Presently,I have two projects going on.One is basically a refinish and new sights. This on a pistol that I previously built on a CMC frame and slide. After installing a Kart NM barrel the front sight had to be shortened to .150"to get a POA impact.A set of Heinie Slant-pro Kimber sights put it right where I like it.I'm contemplating plating the lower for a two tone finish(pun intended).

The other project is a Delta Elite.I replaced the barrel, thumb and grip safeties, trigger, hammer and sear, all Ed Brown parts.Lowered and flaired the ejection port.Presently I'm cutting a higher grip on the frame and mildly dehorning for a snag free carry.I plan on putting Heinie Slant-Pro sights on this gun as well.
I test fired it yesterday and am quite pleased with accuracy.Using the the seat of my 4 wheeler for a rest,I was able to put 20 rds. onto 1 1/2" at 15 yards.
I'm sorry I have no pics of work in progress.I will see if I can get a digi cam for pics.It might not be until their finished.

I have a SA Milspec that I used for Dane's gunsmithing class. I'm thinking of adding a Kart drop in barrel next. I'll put up pics as soon as I get it back from Dane.

What's been done so far:

McCormick Beavertail
Videcki Short Trigger
Ed Brown Tactical Thumb safety.

I'm also planning on doing the magwell bevel myself and putting a set of Heinine Combat sights on.

I'm building on a CMC slide/frame. So far I have only bought grip screw bushings and a plunger tube. I plan on fitting a Bar-Sto barrel, McCormick beavertail, Heinie Slant-Pro sights, Videcki trigger, and a truckload of internals an levers from Wilson Combat.
